General Dentist - Abqaiq
Basic Function
To assist Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare employees and their dependents to achieve and maintain good oral and general health; to provide adequate diagnosis and complete dental treatment planning and delivery to fulfil the health needs of the patients; to educate patients in good personal oral health care and to attempt to motivate patients to incorporate good oral health care practices in their daily routines
Scope
As a healthcare professional, the General Dentist functions as assigned in the dental clinics of any Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare community. Professionally, the General Dentist functions independently, bearing responsibility for the oral health care of his/her patients.
The General Dentist scope in dental practice is very broad for he/she functions to some degree in all areas of General Dentistry. The General Dentist provides work direction to dental assistants and other ancillary staff members on a daily basis.
Principal Contacts
- The General Dentist’s principal contacts are with Saudi Aramco and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare employees and dependents who seek his/her care on a daily basis.
- Other contact is with the Supervising Dentists who provide administrative supervision and overall professional guidance; with other Dentists and Physicians on a consultancy basis; with Dental Therapists, assistants and Laboratory personnel.
- Frequent contact will be made with the Physician Manager of Primary Care Services, Physician Manager of Specialty Care Services.
- Occasionally, contact will be made with the Manager Dental Support Services and the Chief, Dental Services Division.
Principal Duties
The General Dentist at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare offers comprehensive outpatient dental care, collaborating with specialists and healthcare professionals as needed.
Patient Examination and Evaluation:
- Conducts thorough clinical and radiographic examinations of oral and head-neck tissues.
- Identifies and documents issues like abnormalities, caries, fractures, and more.
- Orders, exposes, and interprets dental radiographs with safety measures.
- Diagnoses using aids like Study casts, Vitals, and others, and referring when necessary.
- Interviews patients, records medical history, and plans treatment based on findings.
Patient Management and Professionalism:
- Recognizes personal limitations in ability and refers patients to other health professionals when this referral will result in better care for the patient.
- Adapts to cultural differences in a multinational setting and offers advice on oral hygiene practices and health hazards.
Patient Treatment:
- Competently handles all aspects of general dentistry.
- Performs preventive procedures, prescribes medications, and administers local anesthetics.
- Adjusts occlusions for proper function and restores teeth using various materials.
- Prepares for prostheses, removes diseased teeth, and addresses oral surgical needs.
- Offers emergency dental services.
- Recognizes Orthodontic issues and oral pathology, possessing basic knowledge of general medicine.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years in the practice of general dentistry.
Certifications/Other requirements as applicable
- Meets Saudi Arab Ministry of Health requirements for professional licensure and classification by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
- Must be licensed or registered to practice dentistry in his country of origin or Saudi Arabia.
- Classified by the SCFHS as “General Dentist”. (In-Kingdom).
- Successfully complete proctorship under Senior General Dentist for 3-6 months.
