Job Description Summary

The Associate Audiologist, subject to direct supervision by Senior Audiology staff, is responsible for providing basic diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with hearing and communication disorders in order to identify patients who are likely to have hearing loss and who require further evaluation.

    Operational Roles & Responsibilities

    • Performs and interpret basic audiological hearing test by applying the Audiological methods utilized in assessment and management of neonates pediatric and adult patients including otoscopy tympanometry Otoacoustic emissions Pure Tone Audiometry etc
    • Assists with newborn hearing screening programs and hearing clinics
    • which may include but not limited to assisting in behavioral hearing assessment for pediatrics coordinating efforts with nursing staff to sedate infantschildren undergoing brainstem evoked potential testing and conducting basic and moderately advance electrophysiology tests under direct supervision
    • Assists in taking ear impressions for suitable ear molds orintheear hearing instruments
    • Follows protocols and clinical procedures to treat inpatients and outpatients as recommended which may include assisting senior audiology staff or physicians with earrelated anomalies ie balance and vestibular evaluations Work with other audiologists to determine audiologic candidacy for implantable devices including cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids
    • Escalates appropriate referrals to physicians or other specialty professionals as indicated
    • Occasionally participates on multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to ENT cochlear implant team early childhood development clinic and educational planning teams to identify the medical communicative education psychosocial vocational and rehabilitative needs of patients
    • Maintains the inventory of supplies and the Orderlinesscleanliness of the lab and other work areas
    • Performs proper sterilization of instruments and materials
    • Utilizes clinical time by contacting patients VNG and ABR patients to provide them with instructions and confirm attendance

    Minimum Education Required

    Bachelors Degree in Audiology

    Professional Certifications Required

    Certification in Audiology (American Speech.-Language Hearing Association CCC.-A or equivalent).

    Years of Experience

    From no prior experience and up to 3 years' experience in Audiology
