Basic Function

  • Performs the psychological assessment and administer, score, and interpret psychological tests in order to obtain information on individuals' intelligence, achievements, interests, and personalities.
  • Performs case formulations and interventions of patients with psychiatric illness and/or psychological disorders.
  • Supervises and provides professional guidance to trainees in clinical psychology in accordance with the recognized professional guidelines and relevant JHAH policy and procedures.
  • Serves as a professional member of the clinical psychology staff in the unit who provide mental health care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological disorders.
  • Interact with clients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
  • Obtain and study medical, psychological, social, and family histories, by interviewing individuals, couples, or families, and by reviewing records.

Scope

Provides clinical psychological assessment and treatment throughout John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, including inpatient and outpatient populations. Recommends and/or participates in the formulation/implementation of treatment plans to assist in patient management.   Utilize a variety of treatment methods such as psychotherapy, CBT, behavior modification, and stress reduction therapy.

Principal Contacts

As necessary with other professional staff throughout the Medical Organization, such as nurses, physicians, social workers, patients’ representatives, and special health service staff or with patients’ friends, supervisors, teachers and others as related to evaluation and care of patients.

Principal Duties

  1. Interviews, evaluates and formally assesses patients with psychological and mental health problems for diagnosis and intervention purposes.
  2. Applies and interprets various psychological batteries and tests in order to contribute to the diagnosis and management of patients.
  3. Performs case formulations and generates effective and applicable treatment plans.
  4. Provides various psychotherapies, including individual, group and family therapies.
  5. Engages in the evaluation of treatment outcomes and periodic clinical audit activities.
  6. Contributes in the academic and training activities of the clinical psychology unit.
  7. Engages in the clinical research and actively participates in the standardization of existing and new clinical and neuropsychological assessment tools.
  8. Performs, as necessary, administrative responsibilities and leadership roles.
  9. Counsel individuals and groups regarding problems such as stress, and family situations, in order to modify behavior and/or to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment.   

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized college or university.
  • PhD Degree in Clinical Psychology/Neuropsychology from a recognized college or university is preferred.
  • A certified post-graduate training in clinical psychology

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience after the post-graduate training in the field of clinical psychology.
  • Extensive work experience as a senior clinical psychologist in a recognized institution, involving patients with a variety of psychiatric and psychological /disorders/problems.
  • Established record in training various categories of junior mental health trainees. 

Certifications/Other requirements as applicable

  • Advanced knowledge of psychological theories, including cognitive, emotional and behavioral human normal and abnormal processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of psychological assessment strategies, including clinical data collection, batteries of tests, and individual tests.
  • Advanced knowledge of psychological interventions and their applications.
  • A comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of medical ethics with regard to the obligation to maintain work confidentiality
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English languages
