Job Description Summary

The Lab Technology Consultant in addition to the capability of performing high complexity testing in different Lab units, he/she is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the assigned laboratory division/unit to obtain accurate and precise data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases

  • Participate in establishing new key performance indicators that monitors and improve operational performance in order to meet organizational strategic objectives
  • Participate in the annual quality management system evaluation writing new operational manuals
  • Participate in the establishment or verification of laboratory test performance specifications and selection of test methodology as well as the enrollment and participation in proficiency testing
  • Participate in the establishment of a quality control program to monitor ongoing test performance

Operational Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be available in laboratory as needed for telephone electronic and onsite consultation sign and release high complexity testing patients report as required by CAP AABB CBAHI and MOH when assigned in specialty units
  • Act as a mentor for lab staff in the assigned units provide full technical supervision in technical areas when assigned by Lab management
  • Perform variety of high complexity Laboratory testing using automated analyzers or manual techniques in Chemistry Serology immunology Hematology Blood Bank Microbiology and Molecular Microbiology and other lab specialties
  • Act as a reference for the resolution of technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken ensure that patient results are not reported until corrective actions are taken and test systems are functioning properly
  • Responsible for Identification of training needs and assess the competency of personnel performing moderate and high complexity testing when this duty is delegated in writing by the laboratory director
  • Ensure that all quality and accreditation standards as required by CAP AABB JCI CBAHI and SFDA are being implemented and followed Work with Lab management for process improvement and operational excellence in order to achieve organizational goals and objectives

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree in medical technology/Clinical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory science program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required. Master degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent fields/healthcare services administration/ is required.

Professional Certifications Required

Saudi Commission for health specialties Licensure requirement must be met (SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed). Medical Laboratory technologists/Scientists certified through the American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent is required.

Years of Experience

Minimum 16 years’ experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory as Lab Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Specialist/ Clinical Lab Technology consultant. Or PhD holder; Doctoral Scientist in Chemistry, Immunology , Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular microbiology science, with specialized training and/or appropriate experience.
