Job Description Summary
As Genetic Lab Specialist, he/she will be responsible for performing and supervising diagnostic genetic testing, ensuring quality assurance, supporting laboratory development, and assisting in the interpretation and reporting of genetic results in accordance with hospital policies and national/international standards.

Operational Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform various molecular testing procedures include but not limited to PCR, NGS, FISH, RT-PCR, Karyotyping…etc.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance, or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Molecular Genetics Consultant and/or Chief Technologist.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from JHAH laboratory's established performance specifications.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient’s files and individual logs.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Documentation of quality assurance and controls, maintenance logs, results entered into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintains equipment and assures integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and running control samples through equipment for quality control.
- Complying with safety, quality control, and accreditation agencies requirements (CAP, CBAHI, JCI).
Education
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, genetics, molecular biology or equivalent medical laboratory sciences.
Certifications
- SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed
- American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent is preferred
Years of Experience
- Completion of a structured internship or clinical training program
- Minimum 9 years’ experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory as Lab Medical Technologist including minimum 5 years of experience in PCR, qPCR Sanger, NGS, and/or Microarray, or molecular pathology
