Job Description Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) works in Dhahran Operating Room (OR) and provides a wide range of complex and direct quality and evidence.-based professional nursing care to patients guided by organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Work is performed on any shift, as required, in the OR of the Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) facilities. Working hours are assigned to meet operational needs and may include on.-call and scheduled overtime

- Deliverhighquality nursing care services focusing on complex cases
- Assist in managing workflow ensuring proper resource utilization and providing mentorship to junior nurses
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and participates in the evaluation of patient outcomes
- Achieve andor Maintain the mandated set of activities for level 3 which is a minimum total of 20 points in at least four categories within each 12month cycle as outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program
- Utilize the nursing process to assess plan implement evaluate and document patient care from admission through discharge specific to the patients age
- Provide nursing care patientfamily education consistent with the plan of care and needs of the patients with respect for the patients privacy dignity personal preference and culture demonstrating acceptance caring and empathy utilizing appropriate resources when applicable
- Precept new hires and trainees during the probation training period and participates in making recommendations regarding progress and training needs
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and lifesaving situations by utilizing clinical skills critical thinking and evidencebased practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Perform a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy patient safety and comfort while maintaining a safe clean and organized environment for the patient familyvisitors and staff
- Represent unit or department on committees special interest groups and task forces as assigned by OR manager
- Complete specific competencies as identified by the managerclinical nurse educator according to the scope of service of assigned area OR adhere to unit specific activities per below 2H OR 2H PACU Main OR
- Work according to unit specific competencies as followingOperating Room
- Ensure safe procedures according to international patient safety goals and JHAH policies and procedures
- Acts as a scrub or circulating nurse according to the OR schedule
- Sets up the operating room according to the type of operation and according to the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses AORN recommendations
- Assists the surgeon during complex operative diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of service
- Ensures that all pre intra and postop documentation is completed in the relevant format and in a timely manner
- Ensures familiarity with the specialized equipment used in the OR and can handle equipment malfunction during surgery
- Evaluate supplies equipment for patient care and give input to the service team leader OR Manager
- Observe and maintain strict aseptic practices2H PACU
- Monitors patients in the PACU utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Ensures all postanesthesia documentation is completed promptly and in the relevant format
- Administer medications intravenously or by patientcontrolled analgesia as per clinicians order and utilize JHAH standards and policies for clinicians orders
Minimum Education Required
3 years International Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Professional Certifications Required
Current licensure as a professional registered nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable per scope of service of the assigned area
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable per scope of service of the assigned area
Years of Experience
Minimum 5 years of Nursing Experience including 4 years working as an Operating Room Nurse.
