Job Description Summary
The Peri.-Anesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) works in Dhahran. Provides a wide range of direct quality and evidence.-based professional nursing care to patients guided by organizational and departmental policies and procedures and approved electronic competency evaluation system used in JHAH to improve the well.-being of all patients. Work is performed on any shift, as required, in the Perianesthesia of the Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) facilities. Working hours are assigned to meet operational needs and may include on call and scheduled overtime.

- Deliverhighquality nursing care services focusing on complex cases
- Assist in managing workflow ensuring proper resource utilization and providing mentorship to junior nurses
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and participates in the evaluation of patient outcomes
- Achieve andor Maintain the mandated set of activities for level 3 which is a minimum total of 20 points in at least four categories within each 12month cycle as outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program
- Utilize the nursing process to assess plan implement evaluate and document patient care from admission through discharge specific to the patients age
- Provide nursing care patientfamily education consistent with the plan of care and needs of the patients with respect for the patients privacy dignity personal preference and culture demonstrating acceptance caring and empathy utilizing appropriate resources when applicable
- Precept new hires and trainees during the probation training period and participates in making recommendations regarding progress and training needs
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and lifesaving situations by utilizing clinical skills critical thinking and evidencebased practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Perform a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy patient safety and comfort while maintaining a safe clean and organized environment for the patient familyvisitors and staff
- Complete specific competencies as identified by the managerclinical nurse educator according to scope of service and area of assignment Day surgery PACU PATC
- Works according to the assigned unit in Day surgery PACU PATC as follows DAY SURGERY
- Prepare patients in the DS utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Ensures that all documentation is completed promptly and in the relevant format
- Ensure safe procedures according to international patient safety goals and JHAH policies and procedures
- Administers medications utilizing JHAH standards and policies and as per clinicians orders
- Assess patients post procedure and prior to discharge utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Ensures relevant education and instructions are completed before discharge
- Discharges the patient to the care of the escort to ensure the patients safetyPACU
- Receive preoperative patients in the holding area utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Monitors patients in the PACU utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Ensures all documentation is completed promptly and in the relevant format
- Administers medications utilizing JHAH standards and policies and as per clinicians orders
- Receive and recover post anesthesia Electroconvulsive therapy ECT procedures for anesthesia servicePATC
- The clearance nurse will conduct the preoperative call utilizing the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses ASPAN and JHAH standards and policies
- Conduct anesthesia screening calls utilizing JHAH standards and policies and schedule pateint appointments for the anesthesia clinic
- Assess patients in the clinic and communicate with the clearance nurse on referral to other services for clearance
Minimum Education Required
3 years International Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Professional Certifications Required
Current licensure as a professional registered nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable per scope of service of the assigned area
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable
Years of Experience
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 4 years working in a Peri.-anesthesia unit.
